PROJECT WEBINAR: HOSTED BY BBIA AND NOVA-ID
The objective of the Usable Packaging project, launched in June 2019 for a three-year programme of research, is to develop a compostable packaging material using food industry by-products and food waste, to be used as an alternative to fossil-based, environmentally harmful equivalents for food, pharmaceutical and clothing packaging. The project is funded by the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking as part of the EU Horizon 2020 programme.
On 30 June, BBIA hosted a webinar in Portuguese in partnership with Nova-Id.
The webinar featured the following speakers:
- Joana Fradinho (FCT NOVA) – An introduction to the Usable Packaging project
- Maria Reis (FCT NOVA) – Sustainable processes for production of biodegradable polymers
Loic Hilliou (UMinho) – Converting bio-polymers into food packaging: a case study with thin flexible films
Ana Machado Silva (Sonae) – Packaging and sustainability: trends and experience in the retail food market
The webinar presentations are available for download below. Please note that the presentations are in Portuguese.
